Choose your side of the ruins first
A bed described as ‘in Pompei’ can sit near a different entrance from the one you plan to use. The Archaeological Park lists access points at Porta Marina Superiore, Porta Marina Inferiore (also called Piazza Esedra) and Piazza Anfiteatro. The town also has three useful rail stops: Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri on the Circumvesuviana line, close to the Porta Marina side; Pompei Santuario, nearer the town centre; and Pompei station on the main Naples-Salerno line.
Match the address to your entrance and your train before comparing anything else, especially if you arrive with luggage or want to be at a gate at opening time. A five-minute walk on a map can become a long morning with suitcases on cobbles.

Sleeping well in a small town
Small B&Bs and guest houses often keep limited reception hours. Share your arrival time in advance, especially if your train lands in the evening, and ask where to leave luggage if you reach town before check-in.
If you are driving, ask about parking before booking rather than on arrival; one property on this list (Zefiro B&B) advertises an electric-vehicle charging point, but availability and any cost need confirming directly. If you are leaving by train, measure the walk to the station with your luggage in mind, not just the walk to the ruins.
Staying near the Porta Marina side pays off most in the morning: you can be at the gate at opening time, see the Forum before the day crowds arrive, and still walk back for a shower before dinner in town.
